Spring Newsletter

jet day

Welcome to the Spring MAR/C newsletter!

Despite the cooler, stormier weather we have had this month, I am amazed at how busy the field is on the weekends! I think we are all looking forward to some warmer weather. With the spring, comes the weed and grass growing season. Rob, who does the field maintenance, is looking for volunteers to help with weed whacking, mole management, and repairs of tables and test stands. Send an email to the club if your interested and I will get you in contact with Rob.

We are in full Summer Planning Mode for Events at the field. The club will be hosting an Open House on May 21st from 9-4. This event will be open to the public. All members are encouraged to come out and display their R/C models for the public to view. Tim from Northwest RC has kindly offered to bring some of his giant scale aircraft and put on an airshow for the crowd. (We ask that no other flying occurs during his flight performance.) The open house is a great chance to encourage new people to join the club.

Coming up on July 9th we will feature our Scale meet/Warbird fun fly. This is a great opportunity to bring out your latest scale build and show it off to the club. The Summer BBQ will be held August 21st. This year we will again feature several flying contests. This was wildly popular to watch and participate. Since the Summer BBQ is one of our biggest events of the year, I will be needing volunteers to help with set-up, grilling, judging the contests and clean up after the event. Look for more info in the next month or so along with a sign up sheet.

Club Build contest! At last month’s club meeting, Julien announced the "Not a Plane" contest. The goal of the contest is to create a flying object that is anything but an airplane. Judging will be based on overall design and flight worthiness. The contest will be held at the BBQ in August, and you can team up with other members on your build. I know the youth are excited about this contest so we need lots of other members participating!

Jet Day is this Sunday! Top Gun is calling so get out your Maverick shades and fly your EDF jet.

See you on the flight line – Chris
