NEW SHED AND SHELTER, CIVIL ENGINEER NEEDED, and PLEDGES
We are finally close to working with the people the Park uses to get permitting done for our new charging shelter and storage shed. We are discovering hidden costs that seem to be inevitable in any construction project.
CIVIL ENGINEER NEEDED: For example, we need to hire civil engineers to approve our charging shelter for structure, and for the project as a whole for drainage. If you, or someone you know can deal with permitting for King County, please get in touch with any board member, or contact the club HERE
PLEDGES: For those of you who generously committed to pledges for the project, we are waiting until we understand all of the costs before we accept your pledge. The club is in a good financial position at this time, plus we have qualified for a Community Partnership Grant (CPG) from the Park system. We will update you in the coming months about your pledges if they are needed to keep our bank balance high enough that we do not have to raise dues any time in the next few years.
AUGUST FUN-FLY, BBQ, AND NOT-A-PLANE CONTEST !!!

Mark your calendar and come enjoy easy low-key fun fly events like the limbo we had so much fun with last year.
And start building your entry for the the Not-a-Plane contest. You can enter anything as long as it doesn't look like an airplane and it can fly. Several projects are under way, but we don't know how many because the builders are keeping them secret for now! Over the decades, people in the hobby have done lawn mowers, Snoopy dog houses, Superman, birds, fish, etc. What can you make fly?? How awesome it looks is half your score!
Scoring criteria were developed by our youth community. Points will be awarded by judges in 3 different categories after a demo flight by the builder

Looks, flight performance/stability and aerobatic capability

Looks will be scored out of 20pts, with the other 2 categories being scored out of 10

In the case of a tie, builders will be subject to a “fly down” where they fly again against the plane whom they are in a tie with and it will be put to a vote from the audience
YOU CAN BE AN INSTRUCTOR, AND WE CAN TEACH YOU HOW
Our local community is hungry to learn this year, so we really need a few more instructors. Even if you can't come every Tuesday evening, you can still help. If you haven't done this before, we can teach you how!

BOARD ELECTIONS IN THE FALL
Elections for three of the nine Board of Directors positions is coming up in the Fall. It's healthy to have competition and I'll bet you have some new ideas.
