Marymoor Radio Controlled Model Aircraft Field Operating Rules

NOTE
Tuesday evenings during the flight-training season are reserved for training flights only. All other MAR/C members and instructors are to refrain from flying their personal aircraft.
  1. All students and instructors participating in the flight-training program must use a valid Marymoor Club Card on training night.
  2. Flyers must abide by Official AMA National Model Aircraft Safety Code.
  3. Flyers must comply with Frequency Control Rules.
  4. DO NOT fly over pit, spectator, or parking areas, or any other area designated as out of bounds on the airfield map. Fly only on the South side of the flight line fence.
  5. DO NOT taxi into or through the pits.
  6. Fly from a marked pilot station only.
  7. Perform takeoffs and hand launches from the runway only.
  8. Follow the established traffic pattern. Take off and land left to right unless prevailing winds are from the left or if instructed otherwise on training night.
  9. DO NOT perform aerobatics, 3-D maneuvers, or high-speed low passes over the runway.
  10. Helicopters shall take off and fly from the runway and follow the same rules as the other aircraft.
  11. A maximum of 5 aircraft are allowed in the air at any one time.
  12. Effective mufflers are required on all aircraft.
  13. The airfield is open from 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
  14. Turn off engine at posted signs.

Frequency Control Rules

  1. Flyers must place their AMA or MAR/C membership card in the "IN USE" slot for their radio frequency BEFORE turning on their transmitter.
  2. Flyers turning on a transmitter on a frequency, which is designated, as "IN USE" will be held responsible for any damage to persons or property resulting from their actions.
  3. Know and communicate with your frequency partners even if their card is in the "waiting" slot.
  4. Take turns in using a frequency - 15 minutes maximum.

Impound

  1. On Tuesday evenings during the training season a transmitter impound will be in effect for all.

Field Procedures and Safety Guidelines

  1. Never turn on your transmitter, or test your equipment at your vehicle in the parking lot.
  2. Never turn on your transmitter unless you have placed you card in the "IN USE" slot.
  3. Never remove someone else's card.
  4. Communicate with others on your channel prior to turning on your transmitter.
  5. Start your aircraft on the ground and always use a safety hold down.
  6. Have a frequency flag on your antenna.
  7. Fly only from a pilot station not from an opening.
  8. Range check and preflight your aircraft prior to flying.
  9. Check your aircraft one last time prior to take off, if in doubt return to the pits.
  10. Announce your intentions loud and clear: "taking off", "landing left", "landing right" or "dead stick".
  11. Do not walk or run onto the runway without checking for aircraft on approach from both directions and LOUDLY announce your intentions. The accepted phrase is "ON the field" and when you are off "Field is clear".
  12. Do not fly behind the runway fence, over the pits or parking lot. If you can't control your aircraft seek further instruction.
  13. Police your area. Put trash into the barrels.
  14. Conduct yourself in a mature and professional manner.
  15. You represent the club and the sport.
